Creating Life & Spirit in Our Community
We believe our Mission as an Association is to Engage and Connect our community together, creating Life and Spirit for the people in it. This Mission defines the overall core purpose of our Association and inspires us to do our best.
The DPA support a number of events throughout the year such as the Dunsborough Songfest, the Dunsborough Arts Festival, Sculpture By the Bay and the DPA Australia Day celebration. See below for our upcoming events.
Dunsborough Art Festival and Sculpture By The Bay
The Dunsborough Art Festival and Sculpture By The Bay held every Labour Day March long weekend make us see, grow and evolve our cultural aspirations.
Free Saturday and Sunday evening family concerts, family-orientated activities, local craft and art markets, Dunsborough Youth X Factor competition and Sculpture by the Bay take centre stage on this weekend.
The festival uses the natural environmental stage of the foreshore to attract locals and visitors to participate in and celebrate our arts community that reflects our local identity and to promote public art and opportunities for emerging and established artists to exhibit sculptural works in Dunsborough.
The Art and Craft Market in 2019 is to be held on Sunday 3 March between 8.30 am and 3.00 pm at the Dunsborough foreshore, corner of Dunn Bay Road and Geographe Bay Road. Interested stallholders are invited to submit an application.
Hannay Lane Street Party
The Hannay Lane Street Party was started as a response by the Hannay Lane Enhancement Group to engage the local community with the otherwise largely unutilised (but with huge potential!) Hannay Lane in the Dunsborough CBD.
The inaugural event was held in November 2016 with an astonishing attendance of about 1500-2000 people over the three hours. The 2017 event was held on 10th November with about the same number attending (this is nearly half the town’s population)! This year’s event is being held on 9th November. The event is considered a huge community success, organised by DDPA and other volunteers.
Follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts for updates on the Hannay Lane Street Party, including street food menu and live entertainment. You can also PM us via Facebook if you are keen to be part of the event next year, whether organising, volunteering on the day, or as a vendor.
Dunsborough SongFest held in November caters for and promotes community singing. It attracts over 200 participants from community choirs, a cappella groups and the general public to participate in a weekend of voice workshops and concerts.
