The call is out for young people in the Dunsborough, Eagle Bay and Yallingup region to showcase their talents on stage at next month’s annual X Factor contest.
Entries are now being accepted for X Factor, held over the March long weekend as part of the Dunsborough Arts Festival.
The competition is open to young people aged between seven and eighteen who can sing, dance, act or play an instrument. Budding comics who want to test their ability to get a crowd laughing with their stand-up routines also are being encouraged to enter.
Coordinator Betty Huxtable said X Factor provided a great stage experience before an audience, and winners would be taking home cash prizes.
“This year we are looking for solo, duo and group acts, with all acts limited to 3 minutes,” Ms Huxtable said.
“Entrants must be able to perform on the X Factor Stage in Dunsborough between 10am to noon on Sunday, 3 March. They must also be available to audition on the previous day if necessary,” Ms Huxtable said.
Entry forms should be submitted and the entrance fee of $10 paid by Thursday, 28 February. Forms can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to PO Box 63, Dunsborough WA 6281.
This year’s contest will be the first time Ms Huxtable has coordinated X Factor. The co-owner of Dance Works Dunsborough, she has previously worked in New York and Sydney in the Arts and Cultural sectors.
“The event gives local kids a chance to get up on stage, have a go and show the audience their special talent. It is a wonderful opportunity for the entrants to meet other budding performers and have some fun. And you never know where the X Factor could take you!” Ms Huxtable said.
